Nevada Department of Wildlife is hosting a training for volunteers who want to help teachers and students develop their own Trout in the Classroom programs. This training includes:

1) a trail walk where we compare the habitat needs of our trout to the pond environment and to the river and decide where to release the fish (and then release them)

 2) we have an angling station where we will talk about macro invertebrates as fish food and indicators of water quality and compare them to flies that anglers use.  We will then do some casting with them

3) we have a watershed station where we talk about freshwater as a precious resource, do an activity that demonstrates what a watershed is, and another activity that demonstrates a rain shadow

4) we are incorporating food webs and trophic pyramids into the program and identifying trout as predators
