Sydney Wirkus Education AND OUTREAch coordinator

Sydney first started her work with River Wranglers as an AmeriCorps member, but after two terms still couldn’t leave the organization behind. As the right-hand for the executive director, Sydney helps to make sure everything runs as well as possible throughout the year. She has lived in Northern Nevada for most of her life and loves the ability to find adventure anywhere in the state. In Spring 2026, Sydney will be completing a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in education and leadership from Nevada State University. When she is not working or studying, Sydney fills her time with adventures, crafts, quality time with her cat, family, and friends, reading, and writing. She has one published poetry collection, ‘The Past Few Years’ and intends to release more. All in all, Sydney’s passions are entwined with education and helping others, and she’s found a perfect spot for herself at River Wranglers.
