Darcy Phillips, Executive Director
A native Coloradan who adopted Nevada six years ago, Darcy finds the region’s variety of desert, forest, and mountains a perfect blend. She has been joyfully teaching at Truckee Meadows Community College since moving to northern Nevada and holds a master’s degree in anthropology with concentrations in geology and non-profit management. Darcy has worked for numerous non-profit organizations in the past, including Junior Achievement, the Women’s Foundation of Colorado, and Colorado College. As the Executive Director of River Wranglers, Darcy looks forward to working with the young people in our watersheds. She also enjoys hiking, golf, painting, and writing. Darcy and her husband are the parents of a rambunctious teenage son who enjoys archery.
SHAUNA LANGAN, EDUCATION AND OUTREACH COORDINATOR, AMERICORPS MEMBER
Shauna grew up in San Diego, where she spent most of her time exploring the beach and hiking outdoors. In high school, Shauna was an avid member of her Future Farmers of America chapter. Shauna graduated from Sonoma State University with a B.S. in Environmental Studies and Planning with a concentration in Energy Management and Design. In college, she had the opportunity to work as an intern with the Center for Climate Protection’s Clean Power Exchange Program. Shauna has been around educators and students all her life in and out of school–this is where her love for enriching the minds of students stems from. Shauna believes youth are the key to the future and hopes with her position as Education and Outreach Coordinator she is able to learn and teach those around her, students and the larger community. In her free time, Shauna loves to make baked goods, read, and explore the outdoors.
Christie James, watershed Coordinator
Growing up, Christie dreamed of being a Park Ranger, sharing with campers the incredible story of nature’s interconnectedness. With degrees in Environmental Policy Analysis and Regional Planning, as well as Applied Communication, Christie is pleased to share her love of the environment through various youth organizations and as a docent at the Tahoe Environmental Research Center. Introducing the majesty of the outdoors to those who are just starting to know its magnificence is one of Christie’s big thrills. Raised exploring the backroads and small towns of the west, she appreciates the rejuvenating power of rivers as they connect communities to the land.
MEGAN REESE, TAX ACCOUNTANT
Megan Reese owns and operates her small accounting practice based in the Reno Area. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Accounting, and a Master’s Degree in Business and Accounting; in addition to being an Enrolled Agent Licensed by the Internal Revenue Service. But her primary job is being a wife, and a mother to three talented children! Her favorite thing to do is read and explore the outdoors.
